Formflow

Durable recycled board protecting waterproofing membranes

Safeguard below-ground waterproofing membranes

FormFlow is a protective panel system specifically designed to protect below ground waterproofing membranes which are applied to exterior block work, tilt slabs or concrete panel retaining walls. The tough lightweight system protects the waterproof membrane against penetration and provides extra drainage to help channel the moisture away.

FormFlow is made from 100% recycled EPS material and environment friendly. It is also light and easy to transport onto site and can be handled, cut and installed easily, in even the most difficult situations so it saves on time and labour.

Fully tested and appraised it meets all NZBC requirements for retaining wall structures. FormFlow is made from a specific process using only recycled EPS components. Unlike normal EPS blocks the result is a more porous material that still offers all the protective properties associated with EPS products.

Frequently Asked Questions

Form-Flow is a protective board made from expanded polystyrene (EPS), designed to protect below-ground waterproofing membranes. It is typically used on exterior blockwork, tilt slabs, or concrete panel retaining walls to prevent damage during the backfilling process.

Protection
Form-Flow provides a physical barrier to protect waterproofing membranes from sharp materials like scoria, soil, stone, and rock that could damage the membrane.

Moisture Resistance
Polystyrene is water-resistant, which helps prevent moisture from affecting the waterproofing system.

Thermal Insulation
Form-Flow offers thermal insulation, which can enhance the energy efficiency of the building.

Lightweight
Easy to handle and install, reducing labor time and effort during the installation process.

Durability
Long-lasting and resistant to degradation when installed correctly.

Form-Flow is porous, allowing water to pass through the board. This facilitates drainage around the waterproofing membrane via the installed drain coil at the base of the application, helping to avoid water pooling and potential damage to the membrane.

Form-Flow is typically available in sheets sized 2500 x 1200 x 95 mm, with 6 sheets per pack. Custom sizes may also be available depending on specific project needs.

Form-Flow is installed directly against the waterproofing membrane to protect it during the backfilling process. It should be placed before backfilling with granular drainage materials like scoria or sand, followed by the general backfill material. Ensure proper alignment for optimal protection.

Form-Flow is designed to provide effective protection in a variety of soil conditions, including those with high moisture content or unstable conditions. However, the type of backfill material should be considered to ensure it provides the necessary drainage and support.

Form-Flow is made from expanded polystyrene (EPS), which is recyclable. While EPS is not biodegradable, it can be reused or recycled in appropriate facilities, making Form-Flow a more sustainable option compared to other materials.

When properly installed, Form-Flow can last the lifetime of the building. EPS is resistant to decay and will not rot, ensuring long-term protection for the waterproofing system.

Form-Flow is ideal for a wide range of projects, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, especially those with below-ground foundations requiring waterproofing protection. It is often used in construction where blockwork, tilt slabs, or concrete retaining walls are present.

Yes, Form-Flow has been fully tested, and an appraisal was completed by Opus Consultants Ltd, ensuring its performance and compliance with industry standards.

While Form-Flow is generally available in standard sizes, it may be possible to obtain custom sizes or modifications based on project requirements. It is recommended to consult with the supplier for specific customization options.

Form-Flow generally requires little to no maintenance once installed, as it is designed to be a durable and low-maintenance solution. However, periodic inspections are recommended to ensure there are no issues with the waterproofing membrane or drainage system.
